- Task Force on Artificial Intelligence
In May 2024, U of T launched an AI Task Force to engage members of the community to develop a vision and strategy to guide the university’s AI activities and to inform the integration of AI within teaching, learning, research and administrative processes and frameworks, ensuring alignment with its core values and mission.
The AI Task Force delivered its final report in June 2025. Its recommendations consider areas for action and outline a range of opportunities for faculty, librarians, staff and students to learn about and responsibly adopt sector-leading applications of AI.

AI Task Force members
The Task Force members were chosen for their expertise across academic, administrative and technical areas. Many Task Force members were co-chairs of working groups representing essential areas of the university’s mission and operations. Additionally, the Task Force & Working Groups included representatives from areas critical to topics across the institution, including libraries, legal services, and graduate education.
This critical institutional initiative considered ways our community can best leverage AI to enhance our research expertise, support student success and engagement in rewarding learning and co-curricular experiences and services, and improve operational efficiencies – all within a framework of clear and consistent ethical principles.
